NAMIBIA : Another Success for Basketball in Tsumeb

Tsumeb — Tsumeb basketball reached a milestone by hosting a very successful tournament under the stewardship of astute organizer Francina Amakali, NBF development officer, in the copper town recently.
Amakali says she does not want to see basketball dying in that part of the country. "I will fight until basketball is recognized again and back on its feet."
The tourney consisted of six male teams led by Leopards (Ongwediva), Bullets (Walvis Bay), G-Town (Grootfontein), a team from Rundu, Titans (Tsumeb) and Otjikoto boys.
Results in the male category saw the tourney's most promising player Sam Haitamba leading Otjikoto's Leopards to first spot, with Bullets clinching the runner-up place while Rundu picked up the pieces for the 3rd place finish.
The competition was sponsored by Dr Nderecha of the Alpha Clinic and will now become an annual gathering.
