TANZANIA : Five out of All Africa qualifiers

Five countries have pulled out of the All Africa Games qualifiers/Zone Five Basketball Championships which was expected to take off in Kigali, Rwanda yesterday.
The three, including Tanzania, have pulled out of the regional tournament because of money constraints.
Reports from Rwanda where the championships are taking place named other countries as Uganda, Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea.
The withdrawal of the five member countries now leaves six countries in the tournament, including favourites Egypt, Kenya, Burundi, Somalia, Ethiopia and hosts Rwanda.
The winners (men and women) will automatically qualify for the All Africa Games due July in Algiers, Algeria.
According to Fiba rules and regulations any team that confirms participation but later pulls out is liable to a US$3000 (about 3.5m/-) fine and a possible suspension.
