NIGERIA : Royal Hoopers face tough double-header in Lagos
LAGOS (DStv Premier League) – Royal Hoopers of Port Harcourt this weekend take their play-offs aspiration to Lagos for a double battle against Ebun Comets and Union Bank on Saturday and Sunday at the sports hall of the national stadium, Lagos.
On their last trip to the Nigerian capital last month, the Hoopers lost their two games but head coach Ogoh Odaudu’s team is determined to prevail this time.
Odaudu, the former Comets and Nigeria international player turned coach knows his former club inside out, but his crafty counterpart, Ayo Bakare, is regarded as the best in local scene which means the Hoopers might not find things too easy against the youthful Comets.
After all, Bakare’s men caused a surprise result by beating Lagos Islanders last Sunday and almost pulled another upset against Union Bank on Wednesday.
Other games billed for the weekend in the Atlantic Conference include Lagos Islanders taking on Union Bank on Friday and Nigeria Customs seek a lifeline against Lagos Islanders on Sunday.
In the Savannah Conference, Kano Pillars will look to consolidate their hold on the top spot in the standings when they host Plateau Peaks on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Tapgun Rockets, coming off a home loss to Yelway Hawks of Bauchi, will take on fast-improved Kada Stars of Kaduna at the Admadu Bello Stadium Kaduna. In the remaining game, AHIP Giants will try their luck against Plateau Peaks on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
